THE JOURNEY
You pulled The Journey...
This card and song will have some significance for you.
The Wrong Ocean captures the wanderlust that pulls us toward new opportunity — from the leaving, to the revelation, to the return — in the end it’s a love song to North Carolina — or more broadly, to coming home with fresh appreciation. The Journey is a card that gives us a sense of where we began and how far we’ve come, reminding us that self actualization, while an inner transformation, requires that we allow the external world to do its work on us too. The Captain stands at the prow of his ship, braced against the wind, sailing between two seas: the familiar and the unknown. He holds the wheel and his eyes are open and clear, seeking. Wanderlust is an evolutionary trait, though instinct might tell us to stay close to our shelter and group, the only way we’ve survived is by being willing to pioneer new territory, meet new people, and find new sources of nourishment. Unlike The Fool walking blind, we set out on The Journey with a sense of determination and purpose, eyes open, eagerly pursuing our own personal alchemical transformation: our magnum opus. Along the way we will walk through experiences that prompt us to individuate, dissolve, awaken, and integrate. The Journey is circular, bringing us back to where we started, but our perception of what’s there will be as changed as we are, the old becomes new again and we will have what we sought.
“Look homeward, angel…”
