No One Will Miss Me is a happy rebound from the brink of nihilism, wrapping existential pain within an antidote: joyful, unselfconscious music. The Hermit card encourages us to journey away from society and into our own conscious awareness, giving ourselves the solitude necessary to see our inner light and be guided by it. A man stands alone, atop white mountains, lonely at the height of the human search for wisdom and mastery. He holds his staff, a balancing aide, and his lantern lights only the next few steps. While The Hermit calls us away from the distractions of daily life in an earnest effort to better hear the voice within and follow our intuition, there is a risk in following his path. Especially in our world today, which highlights consumerism and outward facing displays of perfection and purpose, secluding ourselves can result in feeling separate, misunderstood and ultimately depressed or meaningless. But The Hermit says, push on through thin air. Those voices are not our deepest self speaking to us, they are projections in our mind, and the key is in how we listen to our body. Our gut, our intuition speaks truth on many levels. There is renewable faith in asking: Why are we here? Does anything even matter? Because the answer “YES!” is in the smallest next step, of breathing in and out. In taking in the sky. In the way a song makes us feel something. It may mean that we have to change or re-evaluate, but that’s growth. You are your own mentor when you choose the path of The Hermit, and you will rejoin the world with more sense of your meaningful place in it.
