The Beast is a hypnotic homage to "The Second Coming" by Yeats, with shivery instrumentals echoing a snake’s rattle, calling you to join the march of the underdogs against the the patriarchy. When you encounter The Beast in your reading it’s time for a reckoning. You are facing mortal danger, communal destruction, or an insidious enemy. But the elemental magic of who you are is The Beast’s Achilles heel. You are being asked to bring all your powers to bear even if that means sacrificing: your ego, your material goods, your comfort, your pride, your security. Whatever strength you have been cultivating in your relationships, practices and challenges you’ve overcome, you have gained enough spiritual gravitas to hold your own. Now is the time to use your magic for good! And be open to the transformation that will follow. Much like Gandalf after his fall through fire with the Balrog, you may need to undergo an alchemical change to emerge victorious, but you will rise wiser and the world will be better served by the new you.
